CLOWNS

This small series of clown monstrosities was inspired by portraits and other works I was lucky enough to have seen during my Study Abroad Program in Florence, Italy in the summer of 2018. Each drawing presents a unique monster in a style that attempts to mimic the mannerism seen in frescos and oil paintings, but using Microns and Copics. In addition to this, each are given a name derived from Italian roots: 1.) Becco- From the Italian word meaning 'beak', 2.) Piagnu- From the Italian word meaning 'crybaby', 3.) Baquano- A combination of Italian words meaning 'beast,' 'water,' and 'drill.' This series was selected for the National Student Show and Conference (2018) under the Illustration category, displayed at the Texas State University TOP COMDES Exhibition (2019) and received a Silver Award in the Graphis New Talent Annual (2020).
